All I have to say is welcome back to the playoffs Clintwood.

On another note, I noticed something coincidental about this year.

1998 was the last year that there was an LPD sweep in the playoffs. There's an LPD sweep this year.

In D1 Appalachia and Burton played for the Region D trophy. Norton winning 34 to 13.

In D2 PV and Clintwood played for the Region D trophy with PV winning 27 to 14.

Another thing about D2 is PV hosted Honaker first round and won. And PV hosted Clintwood in the finals. PV would be hosting Clintwood if the game weren't at UVa Wise. So PV is home team in this one although it's neutral site. And the winner is probably going to face Giles unless Lebanon's defense steps it up but Giles is still going to win.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Clintwood win this game. But either way. Either team may play this game and one more. Neither will win the Div 2 title. Sorry but just being honest.
Neither has what it takes to beat a Gretna. Or anyone of the top 2 division 2 teams.

why cant someone beat gretna? william campbell did,giles had william campbell beat and they came from behind late to win.they may win it all i dont know i havent seen them play,but nobody knows how good those teams really are.

The question isn't can these teams be beaten? It is, will these teams be beaten?

Just by playing against a team, you can beat them. If you can't beat the team, then why are you playing them? The only way you can't beat them is if you don't play them. If PV beats CW and plays against Giles then if they go in with the mentality that they can't beat Giles then they've lost it. If you say you can't, then you're right. You can't.

If Giles comes in thinking PV or whoever they play against can't beat them then they're gonna be in for a rude awakening because I remember a certain game in 1999 PV/JJK. PV thought JJ Kelly couldn't beat them and that no one could because they had a 34 game winning streak. Boy did they find out different.

If PV DOES make it to state and whoever they play whether it be Gretna or Essex thinks that PV can't beat them then they're in for a rude awakening.

PV can win state only if they go. They don't go. They can't win.

Simple as that.

This Saturday could be ugly, so much resentment between 4 schoosl from the same district, none seem to want or think the others will win. If someone thinks that none of these 4 schools can win the title, then I guess there is no need to come to the game.

That's why. They had them beat but didn't put them away.

Those teams play with the power and intensity we use to play with. They also are a year older. It makes a difference.

As i said i a previous post. I'd love to see it happen. But i just don't think it will. We don't dominate like we use to. We let the east still that from us.
